I wonder how Stone would’ve felt about being a father. Somehow I imagine he’d have the opposite reaction of Patrick. Stone always cared more about the people in his life than his career. He knew what it was like to have a family, and he understood what it meant to me. I don’t blame Patrick for the way he feels, but I’m not willing to make this sacrifice for him. Stone enjoyed everything about our life together and I think he would’ve welcomed a child as a new challenge. It’s getting harder for me to picture my life with Stone, and I'm not sure if we'd even still be in love. What I do know is that Stone would’ve always been my friend, and as I think about him so close to his birthday, I wish he were here more than ever.

Over the years, he’s been a club and restaurant owner, full-time promoter and an Emmy-nominated actor. Today, he’s morphed into a niche brand marketer, but it was one unsuspecting night in the early-’90s when Michael Sutton birthed a whole new career for himself — and many others. Now with some of Los Angeles’ best bars, restaurants and parties under his control (The Lodge Steakhouse, Memphis, Xenii and brandSUTTON, to name a few), he’s looking to the future. Who says partying can’t be a full-time job?
944: How did you get into this business?
MICHAEL SUTTON: My father is a legendary publicist. Back then, he represented actors, production companies and big clients in town, as well as one club called Bar One on Sunset. I was acting on General Hospital at the time, and I asked my father if I could throw a party at Bar One once a week and bring my actor-friends, celebrities and models to help promote the bar. It turned out to be a huge success. I’ve pretty much been hosting a party once or twice a week for the last 12 years since then.
Wait a second. The last 12 years?
Yeah, and since then it has become a real business profession. See, the only people who were really promoting parties here in town were Brent Bolthouse (Herbie Steidle’s protégé), Brian Rabin and then a handful of other smaller promoters. It worked for me because I got to see my friends all at once, being that I didn’t have a lot of off-time working on General Hospital. It was fun to create a party scene with my cast of characters. This innocent start led to my niche brand marketing company I have now called brandSUTTON, catering to celebrities and tastemakers, which are at the core of all that I do, including the restaurants. It’s all about the people.
So you’re a pioneer in a way.
In a weird way, yeah, I guess. Totally by accident though.
So what are you building next?
I am following The Lodge Steakhouse and Memphis up with Charcoal located on Sunset Boulevard at The ArcLight Cinerama Dome this month. It’s comfort food, sort of for anybody who just wants to grab a great bite, a glass of wine and relax before or after a movie. And then there’s Goa Supperclub, which opens this summer and will be something really unique. We’re calling it “dinnertainment,” a one-stop shop. What I mean is this: you show up for dinner at, say 9 o’clock, you eat, you drink, you enjoy yourself and then about 11:30 [p.m.], the lights dim and the music grows louder, and the party comes to you. The music will be a fun, energetic vocal house set by famed DJs until closing. It’s an Indian-themed supperclub with a Japanese menu. We partnered in with Ted Fujita, the owner and chef of Yu & Mi in Beverly Hills, who will create the menu.
Is 12 years of partying starting to wear on you at all?
The trick is to keep things fresh. Create new ideas (à la Xenii), and I always try to surround myself with interesting people. Don’t get me wrong, the money is great, but it’s really about having a good time with my friends, putting great people together and the enjoyment of all of that. It’s a human interest job at the end of the day.
Any great parties coming up?
Actually brandSUTTON has a new project called “Discreet,” and we just inked a deal with the Palms hotel to throw a series of parties in the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa, which, by the way, rents for $40,000 a night. Mickey Avalon is performing for the first party on Memorial Day weekend. The other two parties include Labor Day and New Year’s Eve. It’s gonna be sexy.

Now my Grandma is not some meek little old lady either... SHE LOVES Martial Arts/Action movies she loves seeing a good old fashioned butt kickin', she LOVES watching BOXING and Gangster MOVIES with my pops (my grandpa looks like polish version of James Cagney
) that being said of COURSE she loves Sonny!
one of the thinks she not crazy about is sex for sex sake (told you she was oldschool
) she raised four kids on HER own with three of boys and three them under the age of six when my grandpa died... so in her mind NOBODY with kids should have time for fooling around :lol: she's hilarious
and the other thing she speaks her mind none of the PC crap in her words "I'm no bullsh*tter"
